Broken record alarm! Besides the things I made / did for yesterday’s shop update, there’s really not that much to tell making-wise. I went on a last minute trip to The Netherlands (hence the not-update last week) and didn’t take any knitting with me. I know, WEIRD. Maybe I have some kind of knitting apathy. I didn’t wanna take any of my current projects (because: too much brainpower), but then I didn’t know what new project to start. So I thought I’d try sock knitting for the first time, but I wasn’t sure if that would be as mindless for me as it is for others (because: sock knitting newbee) and I was also afraid my needles would be taken away from me by airport security. So yeah. Knitless vacay in The Netherlands it was. I did read a lot though (I can totally recommend reading Life of Pi if you haven’t already). Anyhow, here’s an update that’s mostly about shop stuff!

SALOBRE BLANKET PATTERN
Hiyaaaaaaeeesshh, this beast is done! Oh gosh, I feel like I’ve been working on this since for-ever. I started this design as a scarf, frogged it, redesigned it as a blanket, knit it in white, ran out of yarn, got a collab with U/Knit, redesigned the blanket, knit it with U/Knit yarn, wrote up the pattern, got it test knitted, and FINALLY FINISHED IT. Worth all my time though, I’m really proud of it and I hope you like it too. Once I return from the Salobre rush, I’ll cast on another one for the shop!

HAND DYED YARNS
I didn’t have a lot of bare yarns left, but since hand dyed yarn is my best selling product at the moment, I wanted to dye up some new ones. I only got around to three skeins, haha, but I’m happy with that still, because a totally random dye experiment turned out to become a new colorway I’m in love with. I’m calling it Las Tabaibas.

BOLSA NEGRA PROJECT BAGS
Ugh, I’ve been wanting to add new kinds of products to the shop since forever. Products I’m always drawn to myself when (online) shopping. Like cotton tote bags. Who doesn’t love a good tote bag with a good print? And how cool to design one tailored to Chain Twenty, have a bunch of them printed, and put them for sale? Like it goes with all knitting-related products, I missed simple, modern, neutral project bags in my Etsy feed. And I especially missed them in black. So I made it happen, and it was quite an investment, but I love how they turned out!

WORKS IN PROGRESS
This section hasn’t changed ONE BIT. It’s getting frustrating, I’ll admit. I’ve started one of the sleeves of this jumper, but it’s just taking forever to be magic looping on 4mm needles. I do enjoy the process, but I want this jumper off the needles so badly that I also want it to go faster. Anyway, good things come for those who wait, right?

SPAGHETTI STRAP TOP
Quuuiiite a bit of progress on the body of this top, but only because I’m knitting it with my own yarn, which is THE BEST. But no progress to write home about. I really hope to have more to show you next week.

HAND DYED YARNS
I’ve bit the bullet and ordered my biggest bare yarn order to date (might apply for a wholesale account next time). Howeverrr, I’m going on a holiday from the 14th to the 28th, so I don’t have that much dye time before the next shop update on March 5th. Therefore, I’m playing with the idea of creating custom listings for all the yarn bases I have in stock, with pictures of the colorways I’ve already dyed on them before. That way, people can choose a base and a colorway and I won’t be “wasting” time dyeing up skeins I think customers may perhaps wanna purchase. If that makes sense. We’ll see! If so, I’ll create a page with info about the bases available, how professional right?
None! I was actually planning on visiting a new (to me) yarn shop in Utrecht (NL), because I pitied myself for not having any knitting with me. But I just didn’t have time! Can you believe that? I didn’t have time for yarn!
In keeping with my 2017 statistics (which showed more yarn “in” stash than “out”), I’ve destashed! I’m selling 15 (half) skeins of commercial yarn for less than half their retail prices. So if you’re on the lookout for a bargain, check it out. Other than that, no skeins in or out lately!

The same as last time: getting those WIP’s off the needles! Besides, I wanna start working on a new product, which has everything to do with me illustrating. Say whut? Yes! I’m gonna try my hand at knitting / fashion illustrations and I cannot wait to see where this goes!
