MAKER UPDATE #33-#35 | DOING WHAT I WANNA BE DOING

Yes, I’m so happy to be back with another Maker Update! I’ve worked hard on the plans I mentioned in my previous update: I listed the first TEJEDA sweater for sale and started the second one, finished that mint green TEXTURIZADO scarf en announced the Weekender sweater KAL I’m co-hosting with Lindsay (@bundlehandmade). I feel pretty productive lately and it looks like it’s paying off as well!

FINISHED OBJECTS

TEXTURIZADO SCARF #2

This is the first time I knitted this scarf with my own hand dyed yarn and I love the way it knitted up! It’s variegated, but not thát variegated, and alternating skeins made the colors distribute evenly. It also meant I didn’t have to weave in any ends, which is such a big plus for me (and for the recipient, since she doesn’t have to worry about ends getting loose either). I didn’t get around to listing this one in the shop yet, but I will hopefully do so soon.

WORKS IN PROGRESS

THE EASY ONE SWEATER

THE BODY IS FINISHED. I know everyone is always talking about sleeve island, but this definitely was a body island. I loved it though, it’s such a relaxing knit! Still, I’m happy that the body is done. I tried it on and it has the perfect oversized fit, which is something I worried about since I altered the stitch count dramatically. This project will probably take a back seat for now, because I want to get some other (quicker) projects of the needles first.

GUERNSEY WRAP

I’m really proud of myself, because I actually worked some rows on this wrap and I’m starting to enjoy it a bit again as well. It’s still nowhere near finishing though, but it should be by the next time I update!

ANKLE SOCKS

When turning the heel on the second sock, I made a stupid mistake that forced me to reknit the whole heel. That meant I lost steam on this project a little, but I’m on the foot now, so it’s gonna be done soon! I can’t believe I’m gonna wear hand knit socks this Winter.

2017 SCRAPS BLANKET

I don’t think I made a lot of progress on this blanket this time, so it’s not really worth showing. With my design and KAL knitting going on, it will probably have to wait for me to return to it at some point.

TEJEDA SWEATER #2

While dyeing custom sweater kits for the Weekender KAL, I also managed to squeeze in some chunky skeins in the dye pot and I’ve casted on my second TEJEDA sweater together with my test knitters. I don’t have pictures of it yet, but I’m using the gorgeous faded black ARENA VOLCÁNICA for it. It’s very exciting (and nerve-wrecking) to be knitting my own pattern. And I’m kinda waiting for the mistakes to occur to me, but so far so good.

FUTURE PROJECTS

BENTAYGA HAT #4

I planned to cast this on last time already, but I didn’t get round to it. It’s fine, I have quite a lot of projects going on at the moment, so I really don’t need another cast on.

WORSTED WEIGHT SWEATER

Grading my TEJEDA sweater pattern gave me all the inspiration to design another sweater in the way you’re actually supposed to do it. Haha, read more about my design proces with TEJEDA here. I’ve ordered some bare worsted weight skeins to dye up and design with when the time is there.
