MAKER UPDATE #32 | CREATING THAT KNITWEAR COLLECTION

Chain Twenty’s knitwear collection has taken more and more shape this week, which I’m super happy about! I announced a new hat design called BENTAYGA and am almost finished with the second TEXTURIZADO scarf, that’s now knit out of my own yarn. Once that’s all done, I’ll do my first proper knitwear shop update. In the meantime, I’m also working on that TEJEDA sweater pattern that you’re all so excited about (thank you, thank you!) and my new bare yarns are on their way to me too. Here’s the full list of what I’ve been up to!

FROGGED

DK WEIGHT SWEATER

I announced this last week already, but sadly, the DK weight Summer top turned sweater design is no more. The good news is that I can now use that glorious LAS PALMAS yarn for something else.

FINISHED OBJECTS

BENTAYGA HAT #3

This is the third version of that double brim hat I designed. Can you actually call it designed when it’s such a well-known type of hat? Anyway, apparently I still needed three tries before getting it almost right. The first hat had a weird decrease section, the second was too big, and this one only needs a few, barely visible tweaks. This one is perfectly fine though, especially if you have a bigger head or in case you like your hats a bit slouchy. Or if you’re male. 😀 It will go in the shop soon. WORKS IN PROGRESS

THE EASY ONE SWEATER

Upgraded this project from travel project to also suitable for morning knitting project. I’m still on body island (is that a thing?) and I’m starting to wonder how everybody else seems to knit fingering weight sweaters in no time. Still enjoying the proces very much though. Strangely looking forward to the ribbing of the hem.

YARN: DROPS BABY MERINO // COLOR: #26 LIGHT OLD PINK
NEEDLES: LANA GROSSA MESSING CIRCULARS // SIZE: 3 MM
PATTERN: THE EASY ONE BY JOJI LOCATELLI

GUERNSEY WRAP

Added another section of the pattern to this wrap, but I still got a lot more to do. I want it done now.

YARN: KATIA BASIC MERINO // COLOR: BEIGE (#09)
THREAD: DROPS GLITTER // COLOR: GOLD (#01)
NEEDLES: PLASTIC STRAIGHTS // SIZE: 4 MM
PATTERN: GUERNSEY WRAP BY JARED FLOOD

ANKLE SOCKS

I have a HO! The first sock is done and fits PERFECTLY. It’s a bit wonky, so it definitely needs a good block, but I’m super happy with my first ever sock. The second one is already cast on and waiting for the heel.

YARN: DROPS FABEL LONG PRINT // COLOR: SILVER-FOX (#602)
NEEDLES: DROPS PRO CLASSIC CIRCULARS // SIZE: 2.5 MM
PATTERNS: VANILLA ANKLE SOCKS BY KNITS PLEASE

TEXTURIZADO SCARF #2

Nearing the end of this scarf. It’s SO soft and lovely, I literally cannot wait to wear it for product photos and list it in the shop. And start another one, obvs!

2017 SCRAPS BLANKET

I toootally forgot to mention this in previous updates, but I started a scraps blanket with the scraps from my 2017 projects! It’s simply knitted in seed stitch and this project formed the basis for trying out alternating skeins, like I do now in the TEXTURIZADO scarf. There’s no real method behind the colors I’m choosing. So far, I’m quite liking how it’s coming along. All those ends though…

FUTURE PROJECTS

TEJEDA SWEATER #2

My new bare yarn will get here prooobably by the end of this week! I’m so super impatient now to dye it up and start my second TEJEDA sweater. I’ll be knitting it at the same time as my pattern testers, so I know what they’re talking about if they run into an issue. Still debating whether to knit it in EL PAJAR (light grey) or ARENA VOLCÁNICA (dark grey). Decisions, decisions.

BENTAYGA HAT #4

Facing the same choice for the fourth and final incarnation of BENTAYGA. >< This one will be the pattern sample. I’ll probably be offering the pattern for free at some point, but let’s start with writing it up, shall I?
