KNITTING UPDATE #45 | A LITTLE LATE BUT WITH RED HAIR AT LEAST

I’m a little late to the Knitting Update game, considering it’s already Tuesday, but I still wanted to share with you my whereabouts from last week, week #45. Because it’s good. I have some FOs, some new yarns, and lots of plans for the next couple of weeks. So I’m not gonna waste more time rambling, because knits are calling.

ALSO, I DYED MY HAIR RED. LIKE REALLY RED-RED.

FINISHED OBJECTS

MARPHA SWEATER

When I first started sweater knitting, it took ages for me to finish a project, but somehow, I’ve been on a sweater / garment kick since opening shop. And now there’s another one to add to the list: good old Marpha! I ended up adding some fifteen (!) more rows to the sleeves (I have orang utan arms apparently?) and I wish I had done the same to the body (adding to the six rows I already added), but other than that, it’s perfect! I’ll write a separate blogpost about it in the future, like I do with all my finished object, so I’ll save you my ramblings for now. 😉

SPAGHETTI STRAP TOP

Technically, I still need to weave in the ends, but I wanted to have a great list of FOs this week, so I’m cheating a little. This project was a design project based on a pattern by Jessica (@knitspleaseuk), to which I made quite some alterations to make it fit my needs. I must say it still doesn’t yet look exactly how I anticipated it would look, but I got a lot of info out of this knit. So I’m quite positive I can rewrite the pattern as it is now — again — to then knit the official pattern sample in such a way that it is perfect. And did I mention I’m contemplating the idea to knit that out of my own hand dyed yarn? Yasss!

HAND DYED YARN

Speaking of which, I dyed up four new skeins of yarn! Three of them will go in the shop on November 20th (sign up for my newsletter if you wanna be updated with a coupon code!), and one is for a giveaway that I’m currently hosting on Instagram. I decided to make my variegated grey, Las Palmas, a recurring colorway. The other two I dyed up are really fun as well though. Obviously, I’m smitten with the black-and-white one, but the blue-and-white speckled one turned out really cool too! We’ll see if they sell though, and let me know your thoughts in the comments! Oh and I have to retake these photos, because the lighting was… blue. ><

WORKS IN PROGRESS

SALOBRE BLANKET + PATTERN

No major updates on this project. Just steady knitting! I haven’t started working on writing down the pattern yet, but I probably will next week, because…

EL TABLERO HEADBAND PATTERN

…this pattern is finally in the ruthless hands of testers! I’ll be receiving feedback on the 18th, so the pattern will hopefully be ready for release at the update. It’s such a good feeling to get a second pattern out there and slowly start building “inventory”, if that makes any sense.

FUTURE PROJECTS

NORDERNEY JUMPER

This one has finally made it into my planning for this week, so it will be casted on soon! I’m very excited to work on a new sweater, because it’s very much starting to feel like Autumn around here (about time huh ><). At the beach, it’s still as good as bikini weater, but in and around our home (higher up in the mountains) a t-shirt is simply not warm enough anymore. And I’m actually really loving that!

EL TABLERO HEADBAND

Woott! I sold an El Tablero headband! If you read this, lovely customer, THANK YOU so much for that! It made my day to be selling actual handmade knitwear. <3 Anyway, I’ll need to restock that one, and I’m also thinking of adding it to the shop in a fourth color as well. Gotta check out the yarn stores around here (which I still haven’t done, shame) to see if they stock Drops yarns.

YARN: DROPS BIG MERINO UNI // COLOR: OLIVE (#13)
NEEDLES: SOME CHEAP PLASTIC STRAIGHTS THAT DO THE JOB PERFECTLY // SIZE: 5 MM, 6 MM

GUERNSEY WRAP

I’ve started to officially consider this scarf as my Christmas scarf, but I’m not so sure if I’ll be able to cast this on before Christmas, haha. So maybe this will be my Christmas eve cast-on! That will be fun too, right?

YARN: KATIA BASIC MERINO // COLOR: BEIGE (#09)
PATTERN: GUERNSEY WRAP BY JARED FLOOD

PAPPUS PULLOVER

Kind of back in doubt about whether I like this pattern or not… We’ll see when it’s time to cast on if I still want to.

YARN: DROPS BABY MERINO UNI // COLOR: LIGHT OLD PINK (#26)
PATTERN: PAPPUS PULLOVER BY MIDORI HIROSE

ACQUISITIONS

None, good girl.

STATISTICS

This week’s statistics are quite good, but on the overall, I’m still 7 skeins of yarn behind schedule… Next week, I hope to have received a new yarn shipment, so yeah, work to be done!

PLANS

Since the Salobre blanket is the only thing that’s on my needles now, this week will be all about casting on new projects, which I’m very much looking forward to. 😀 Besides, there’s only one week left until the shop update, so I’ll probably also be busy with photographing listings and writing product descriptions. Shop life has treated me well lately, and it if this continues to do so, I’m thinking about updating the shop twice a month in the new year. Good luck to everyone hustlin’ through this week!
