It’s still sunny where I am, and I’m still sick, but I did all the things this week anyway! On Wednesday, Chain Twenty will have a shop update including the release of the San Agústin facecloth pattern (together with some new finished ones) and a couple of new El Tablero headbands. This week was all about preparing for that. I also finally sat down and made my first batch of business cards, making me feel really productive and professional haha! Knitting-wise, there is not much going on, but there’s still a lot to tell, so let’s go.

San Agústin facecloth pattern
It’s done, my very first knitting pattern! Even though it’s such a simple and quick knit, this pattern took me forever to create. I had to figure out a standard format both content- and layout-wise, because I do wanna publish many more patterns in the future. So it was a lot of work, and I managed to make it an 8-page PDF, but I’m totally stoked with the result. It has general information about the pattern, tips and tricks for certain techniques, step-by-step photos, I couldn’t have been more comprehensive, I think! I might write up a separate blogpost about the design proces, but for now, all I wanna say is thank you thank you thank you to my pattern testers Maria (@showmemaria), Mars (@mars.knits), Annie (@yarnandsuches), Elisabeth (@elisabeth_anne_) and Lizzy (@lizzymaccc). This pattern benefited so greatly from your wonderful feedback!

Works in progress
My yarn will arrive tomorrow! So no further progress on this one since last week. Can’t wait to get back to it and list it in the shop in my October update. I’ve had a couple of requests for the pattern too, so for those of you who are interested: I’m definitely going to write that up! It will take a lot of time though, because I’ll need to knit another sample and test knitters will need quite some time too. Do let me know if you’re interested in test knitting!

I had some time to contemplate the future of this project, but I’m afraid I’m gonna frog it. I will have made a definite decision by next week!

This has been the only project I was able to work on this week. I’ve got so many projects coming up and with the Zigzag blanket still on the needles I figured I’d better not cast on something else. So instead, I’ve been working on this monogamously, which doesn’t happen all too often! I prefer alternating between three different projects, but hey, the upside is that I got a lot of it done. Last week, I told you I had to start over after doing some serious maths, and that’s what I did.
I casted on a dramatically larger amount of stitches and adjusted the pattern according to that. The front panel is done now, and on the back panel I added some short row shaping to make a dipped hem. I literally have no idea how all of this is gonna turn out once seamed together, but I have a good feeling about it! I’m sure it won’t turn out perfect, and I’ve got so many ideas in my head to tweak this even further that I’m already planning another version. Keep you posted!

The shipping drama continues! As it turned out, my long-awaited Wool and the Gang package was returned to the UK, god knows why. So the ah-mazing people over at WatG headquarters send me another one with Express Shipping, which should have arrived by now. But it didn’t. So I checked the track&trace code and the good news is that it has arrived on the island! It is in the vicinity! I could just go drive to wherever it is and pick it up myself if it comes to that! The bad news is that DHL said they tried to deliver it on Friday, but that “the recipient wasn’t home”. Which is nonsense, because I was waiting anxiously at home all day long and our door bell rings so loud it scares the living shit out of me each and every time somebody comes over, so I couldn’t have missed it if they were actually here. So if you need me tomorrow, I’ll be here checking track&trace every second to see what’s gonna happen now. ‘:-)

San Agústin facecloth gift set
Finally, I’ve got a wedding coming up! I’m always complaining about the lack of weddings in my life, but it’s here: the first of my friends to get married! I’m hoping she doesn’t read this blog (but I think not haha), but I’ve decided to knit the newlyweds a fresh set of San Agústin facecloths as part of their present. They have just moved into a new apartment as well and my friend has been so supportive with regards to my handmade pursuits, I figured it would be a nice, personal gift. Since mint green is the theme color of the wedding, I’ll be knitting them color blocking mint green + grey (duh) facecloths.
YARN: DROPS PARIS // COLORS: LIGHT MINT GREEN (#21), LIGHT GREY (#23)

El Tablero headband + pattern
Also part of the yarn haul coming in tomorrow is a new ball of Drops Big Merino in a — hopefully — easy-to-photograph color. As always, I wanted the light grey, but it was out of stock, so I went with a color called marble, which looks a bit purplish-grey on screen. I’ll be knitting up a sample for the El Tablero headband pattern, which will be available as a free download soon!
YARN: DROPS BIG MERINO MIX // COLOR: MARBLE (#08)

If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen my stories about progress-keeper-making. I was doing some supplies shopping for my handmade business cards when I ran into some beads and lobster locks (fun note: in Dutch we call them parrot locks haha, all the animals). I saw some potential there and once home, I knotted them together with transparant thread to serve as cute progress keepers! Even though they are quite clumsily made, I fell quite in love with the result! And so did some of you! So I ordered myself some more professional materials and I’ll be making all the progress keepers soon. Some may end up in the shop as well, so that will be exciting!
Before I decided it wasn’t gonna be a good idea to cast on another project, I swatched for an amazingly textured jumper (go click the pattern link below if you wanna see it). I’ve got a sweater quantity of yarn in my stash that I didn’t know what to do with, because it’s quite sturdy. But I think it’s gonna give me a gorgeous stitch definition with this pattern! So that will be casted on at some point in the future.
YARN: DROPS KARISMA MIX // COLOR: DARK BROWN (#056)
PATTERN: NORDERNEY BY ISABELL KRAEMER
As a said, I ordered some new wool for all the upcoming projects, as well as progress keeper supplies. I’ll probably show you the wool (hopefully including Wool and the Gang’s) next week.
No finished knitting projects this week, so nothing has changed compared to last week.
In since week 26: 11
- 5x Drops Cotton Light Uni
- 2x Drops Paris
- 4x Rico Baby Cotton Soft Print
Out since week 26: 23
- 11x Drops Alaska
- 2x Drops Big Merino
- 10x Drops Paris
Next week’s plans
The most important day next week will obviously be Wednesday, when the shop gets an update. Everything is ready to go, so there’s not much work left to be done, but it’s still exciting. By the way, if you’re eyeballing something, now is the time to sign up for my newsletter, because I’ll be sending out a discount code once the shop update is live! Now that all the shop-related non-knitting stuff is done, I’ll hopefully be back to knitting all the things and writing all the blogposts!
