Last week’s workflow got a liiiiitle lost this week. We had a visitor here in Gran Canaria, which always means more party (yay) and ehm, more cleaning (not so yay). As you may have read on Instagram, this was also the week where I felt like I really really had to defend myself and my choice to focus 100% on Chain Twenty instead of making money with some boring side job. Lucky me, I’ve heard plenty of stories in response of you guys, who had to deal with similar kind of situations and later proved all the ignorant assholes wrong by working hard and getting successful. So that’s the spirit I’ll take with me the coming week. 😉 Here’s what I got done!
BED KNITTING IS THE BEST KNITTING // STARTING MY ONE STOP CROP TOP
Finished objects
None. Oops. I pretty much cleared all my needles last week and only worked on some larger projects this week, so there you have it. I finished nothing. Even though I got quite some knitting done, this doesn’t feel really satisfying haha. So instead, I’ll share with you the promised picture of last week‘s FO: the Mae sweater! Isn’t she gorgy porgy?

Zigzag blanket
Oh, the joy of knitting this. 🙂 The texture pattern is turning out exactly how I had hoped it would and the fabric quite literally feels like clouds. Not that I know how clouds feel. But if I knew, it would probably say it feels the same. I’m working with the last two skeins of Cashsilk I have and I don’t know when I’ll be able to get my hands on more, so it’s kinda sad to have this project linger because I’m waiting for new yarn. But oh well, I know I’ll love getting back to it as soon as I can (probably in October). In the meantime, I can start working on writing up the pattern!

One Stop crop top
Finally casted on a new garment! This top has been on my Ravelry queue pretty much since I started looking for Summer knits (= months ago), but shop knits, a lack of the right yarn, and my I-prefer-to-not-have-more-than-three-projects-on-the-needles policy has prevented me from casting this on sooner. But this week I did and I got quite far as well! I didn’t get the gauge exactly right after swatching though. I went down a needle size, but that didn’t help enough. Unfortunately, finished dimensions were missing in the pattern so I couldn’t really calculate how my differing gauge would affect the finished product. There’s so much stretch to the fabric though, I decided to just go with the flow and see what happens.
The body is done, which is not that surprising since it’s a cropped one hahaha (good job Merel!), and I’ve separated for the armholes. I made a small mistake doing so and cursed myself again for not putting in a lifeline. But since I’m not quite sure yet how to correct mistakes in this stitch pattern (or how to pick up live stitches after ripping back), I continued with the front panel anyway, hoping the mistake won’t be visible after adding the ribbed edges. So far the dimensions look pretty good!

San Agústin facecloth pattern
My testers are working on their San Agústin facecloths as we speak, and one of them has already got back to me with her remarks. Besides knitting a ridiculously fab facecloth, the remarks were so helpful. I’ve got tons of little details to change or add, but this sure makes me feel like it’s gonna be something I’m really proud of. Keep an eye on my Etsy shop, because I’ll be updating it on the 20th of September, and it will also include the release of the pattern!

Future projects
San Agústin facecloths #10, #11, #12
I need to get cranking on these facecloths for the shop, because they need to be all done before the 20th! Luckily, I only have two projects on the needles right now, so I’ll probably cast on #10 later today.

Lucy Star tank
I’m still waiting for my Wool and the Gang order to arrive. They expected it to arrive here last week, but it didn’t, so I’ll wait a couple of days more. But if it isn’t here by then, I’ll go inform at the post office. Shipping to Gran Canaria can be such a hazzle, it’s one of the biggest drawbacks of living here. In The Netherlands, I used to order everything and have it shipped to my front door, but here it’s simply not possible most of the time. I hope I’ll be able to show you this kit of amazingness next week!

The yarn I’ve chosen for this project is caaaaaalling me, I almost can’t resist casting on.

Acquisitions
I had hoped to present Wool and the Gang’s spotty yarn this week, but since that didn’t arrive yet, this section is as empty as an empty thing on empty pills (did anyone notice that Georgia Nicolson reference right there?).

Next week’s plans
My planning for next week pretty much consists of the same tasks as last week, haha: writing a few extra blogposts and casting on shop items. With the start of a new month I also need to review my plans and goals and adjust and rewrite them accordingly. That’s probably the first thing I’ll do today in order to get back on track and prove all those f*ckers I talked about wrong. Happy productive Monday!
Gorgy porgy!!! Oh my God, hahaha! But that is the perfect phrase because that sweater is giving me serious heart eyes 😀 x
HAHA! Yeah that’s Georgia Nicolson-inspired as well. (Don’t know if you know this book series, but it’s awesome. Or, as Georgia would put it: ‘awesomenosity’ hahaha.) But returning to important matters: yes, this sweater is probably the best thing I ever made. I know I keep saying that every time I finish something haha, but I’m just so in love! <3 Thanks for reading and leaving me a message babe, very much appreciated! X Merel
