KNITTING UPDATE #26 | CHAIN TWENTY’S SHOP OPENS ON JULY 20TH!

Back in Gran Canaria since last Tuesday en slowly but surely getting into a routine again. Week 26 has been an exciting one, because I decided to open Chain Twenty’s shop on July the 20th! So, shit just got real. I’ve been playing around with product descriptions and I’ve researched shipping costs. The latter of which are insane, so I highly doubt I’ll sell anything at first — especially since my first products are gonna be relatively cheap. But one has got to start somewhere, right? The idea that it’s gonna start for real now makes me do all the happy dances. 😀 Here’s the overview of what I did knitting-wise.

Chain Twenty's shop

Last week’s finished object I promised you guys a picture of!
YARN: DROPS BIG MERINO MIX // COLOR: ANTHRACITE (#03)
PATTERN: LONG ISLAND SWEATER BY DROPS

Finished objects

San Agústin facecloth #004 and #005

As I said before, I wanna have eight facecloths finished to be listed in the shop when it opens. I actually wanted to knit three of them this week, but adminny preparations got in the way, so I only did two. Three more to go before the 20th!

YARN: DROPS PARIS // COLORS: WHITE (#16) AND BLACK (#15)
PATTERN: CHAIN TWENTY (LET ME KNOW IF YOU’D BE INTERESTED IN IT!)

Works in progress

Boxy sweater

Again, I didn’t do any work on this sweater. I just don’t really like it anymore, because it has been on the needles for too long. Does anyone else recognize this sentiment haha? I only have one more sleeve to go, so I sure am going to finish it. And then I’ll probably be super happy with the result and the learning experience it gave me.

Zigzag scarf

This forever project is still far from finished, but it’s getting quite long now! I worked on it a lot during the flight back here and finally managed to post a picture of it on Instagram. It was so good to hear how many of you liked it, even though the yarn is not really my style. A typical case of yarn regret as Tiam (@knitsafari) appropriately called it. 😉 But it’s good to go a little out of your comfort zone every now and then and try to make it work for you anyway.

YARN: DROPS BABY MERINO UNI // COLOR: OLD PINK (#27)
PATTERN: PLAYING AROUND WITH THE BROKEN GARTER SCARF PATTERN BY PURL SOHO

Mae tunic

I hope to update this project next week in a little more elaborate way, but it’s good to be able to say that I STARTED ON IT. After buying and reading through the pattern, and feeling a liiiiiittle overwhelmed (haha), I managed to make a swatch and get gauge. So cheers to that!

Future projects

San Agústin facecloth #006, #007, #008

How cool to finally be able to say these will be projects for the shop. Ha! Besides the facecloths, I already have three projects on the needles, which is my maximum in order to stay sane. I’ll have to take a look into my Ravelry page (and update it) to see what’s next, but I guess what I’ve got going will keep me busy for now.

Acquisitions

Since I’m trying to buy nothing new to clear my stash, this section will be a bit boring most of the time. Sooooo, I thought it would be a fun idea to track the number of skeins that go in and out of my stash each week, just like Mina (@knittingexpat) does on a monthly basis. Counting as in are the skeins that I bought or was gifted (not that the latter happens a lot unfortunately HAHA), and counting as out are the skeins I used for the week’s FOs. Maybe that will help me stay even more motivated to reduce my stash.

In: 0
Out: 2 // 2x Drops Paris

Hope you guys will continue to follow me on this journey towards an Etsy shop and don’t forget to sign up for my newsletter in order to get a little discount code when the time comes. <3
