Just decided on my very first Chain Twenty FW16/17 collection piece (my very first collection piece ever, actually ‘:-)) and I’m already thinking about a knitting project for (next) Summer. It might all have something to do with the fact that I was typing this on the beach in Khao Lak, Thailand. Salty hair. Sandy toes. That kind of stuff. And with the fact that we took these pictures on that very same beach. And with the fact that we were flying home that night. [Insert crying emoji] Even though I love Fall and Winter knitting-wise, I think Spring and Summer is by far the better half of the year. So let’s do a little dreaming about how to make those months interesting to knit for too!
What I’m wearing: Shein knitted tank top, H&M bikini (very similar top & bottom), H&M hat (almost the same), Ray-ban sunnies
The knitted v-neck tank top
Usually, knitting is reserved for chunky, warm wools. Used to make oversized and cozy sweaters with. And don’t get me wrong, that reputation is exactly the reason why I wanted to learn how to knit in the first place. This time however, I teamed up with Shein (queen of Winter knits as well by the way) to show you a kind of knitting project for Summer that will result in an item your wardrobe shouldn’t miss out on: The v-neck tank top. Preferably with fringes :). I love how lightweight and airy it is. And combined with some fringes it’s also festival (and post-barbecue-belly) proof.
Patterns
I’ll definitely try to make this myself for next Summer. Maybe I will make it a SS17 collection piece, who knows! As I always do before designing a piece myself, I’d first follow a pattern. I found this wonderful minimalistic example over at our lovely friends from Wool and the Gang. And for our German friends (or those of you who like to get crafty with Google Translate) this free pattern will get you a sexy deep v-neck top. (Update from the future: I’m actually working on designing a spaghetti strap top. Check out my thoughts on the design process here.)
Ready made
Not so much into knitting? Don’t worry, because you can find the top I’m wearing here. Oh, and btw, you can find all items I’m clicking home (link included) on my ‘New In’ Pinterest board. Happy shopping!
